Skyway Aviation Handling Company Ltd (SAHCOL) has said the multi-billion naira cargo airport in Bayelsa   State is a window of investment opportunities.

The SACHOL Director, Dr Oluropo Owolabi, made this observation during a facility tour of the airport project in Yenagoa on Wednesday. He said the airport would create jobs for the people.

“We have gone round the airport, the state government has started well and I believe that this project will boost employment opportunities and the economy of the state.

“We have seen the location of the warehouse; I must tell you, the cargo warehouse is a village of its own. The terminal building and fire bay are of standard,’’ he said.

Owolabi said SACHOL was serving as a major gateway to import and export of goods in the Nigerian aviation sector.

The director said the firm made sure that cargo, courier and mails were properly handled, managed and warehoused in its Customs bonded warehouse pending the completion of the due process of clearance.

Capt. Ungbuku Okobaudu, the Managing Director, Bayelsa Airline, said the project was already completed, but waiting for the approval of the Nigeria’s aviation authority. “Everything that needs to be put in place has been done.

“We have applied to the aviation authority and we are waiting for their approval after the test flight. His Excellency, Governor Seriake Dickson will fix date for the commissioning.

“This project gears towards making Bayelsa a business hub, so, we have been putting everything in order,’’ Okobaudu said.
