2019: Association warns members against thuggery

The Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle, Motorcycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), on Monday warned its members against being used as political thugs during the 2019 general elections.

The National President of the Association, Alhaji Babangida Maihula, gave the warning in Abuja.

He said for the next year elections to be conducted peacefully, individuals and association must eschew violence and shun being used to disrupt the electoral process at all levels.
“We have advised our members to stay out of any form of thuggery and violence during election, I’m expecting orderliness and best behaviour from my members based on the quality of leaders that we have put in place at every level.

“We have been talking to all our members at the state level that, ACOMORAN is not a political party but they have the right to elect whoever they want.

“We frown at any inducement of money to buy their vote, we want them to vote by their conscience, we want them to be people of principles. We have our challenges.
“We want a leader that can address those challenges, once we identify that leader, we will vote for that person.

“We need a leader that can address our challenges, our vote is not for the highest bidder any longer, the era of using our people as political thugs has gone,” he said.
He said that sensitisation of members had started, adding that the exercise could continue till the very day of the election.
