NSCDC intercepts truck with 17,000 litres of suspected adulterated diesel in Edo

The Edo Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday intercepted a truck laden with 17, 000 litres of a suspected adulterated petroleum product.

The truck, which was coming from Kogi, was intercepted at Okpella axis on the Auchi/ Abuja road.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Mr Makinde Ayinla, who confirmed said that the truck was said to be heading to Agenebode, headquarters of the Etsako-East Local Government Area, when officers of the corps accosted it.

He, however, identified the product as diesel.

Ayinla said that two persons were arrested in connection with the truck and its contents and that they would be prosecuted on completion of ongoing investigations.

Similarly, he said the command had held a meeting with eminent personalities and some traditional rulers in the Esan North East Local Government Area of the state to foster a relationship between the corps and traditional institutions.

The commandant added that the meeting gave stakeholders the opportunity to find ways of curbing criminality in the area.

“From January to date, the command so far arrested 10 suspects in the area in connection with vandalism and all the suspects have been charged to court.
