AOC urges NAF personnel to shun partisan politics

By Aliyu DANLADI

Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of Nigerian Air Force Ground Training Command (GTC) Enugu, AVM Idi Amin, has urged all personnel of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to remain apolitical.

“You must shun politics and every partisan tendency while being professional in the discharge of your constitutional duties,’’ Amin told NAF personnel after NAF 4th Quarter Route March held in Enugu on Saturday.

The NAF personnel marched through Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Abakaliki Roads of about 12 kilometres.

Amin, who was represented by the Chief of Staff of GTC Command, Air Commodore Noah Oyibo urged the personnel to remain highly disciplined and committed to their professional calling.

“The state and this command is peaceful and we intend to ensure that the peace remain by performing our duties professionally.

“We should maintain high level of decorum always anywhere we find ourselves as professionals,’’ he said.

On the 4th Quarter Route March, he noted that it was meant to keep NAF personnel physically and mentally fit at all times.

“As a military personnel, your ability to perform and excel in your constitutional duties depends on how fit you are and how quick you can respond to emergencies and exigencies that arises,’’ he said.

Amin, however revealed that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar had directed that all forms of exercises including the compulsory Wednesday games of NAF personal should be strengthened.

“A healthy body is a product of a healthy mind; and NAF headquarters and the AOC are encouraging NAF personnel to take advantage of the new lawn tennis and volleyball courts facilities in this barrack.

“We will also have inter-unit games among us here to encourage healthy competition among the personnel going ahead,’’ he noted.
