Some residents of Iseyin town in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Wednesday, commended the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) over improved power supply to the town and its environs.
The resident, who spoke in separate interviews, said that the power situation had improved since the beginning of November in some areas of the town.
A community leader in Koso area of the town, Mrs Ariyo Isalu, thanked the IBEDC for heeding to the call to improve supply to the town.
“I must say a big thank you to IBEDC for having listening ears, to be honest, there has been an increase in the power supply in few areas of Iseyin after we protested to IBEDC office.
“However, so many areas are still either in perpetual darkness or being served epileptic supply.
“While we appreciate the little progress, we must equally appeal for more, especially to other areas, including Barracks, Oluwole, Oja-Agbe, among others.
A trader and community leader at Peller area, Mr Quadri Olorunosebikan, also said there had been improved power supply in the area.
“I commend IBEDC but the truth is that, when you have been hungry for so long, you will appreciate any little that comes your way.
“We are experiencing about 8 hours supply now out of possible 24 hours, that is an improvement from 1 or 2 hours that used to be the case few months ago.
“I want to appeal for more so that our business can thrive and our youths, who learnt different vocations can stay, focused instead of venturing into Okada and other jobs to keep body and soul together.
Mr Kazeez Kazeem, a license surveyor, also appealed for improved energy supply, but urged that government agencies to monitor the distribution companies for improved electricity supply.
