Amaechi, wife celebrate wedding anniversary at orphanage

By Kunle  SHONUGA

The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and his wife Judith celebrated their 25-year wedding anniversary with children at the Hope for Survival Orphanage in Abuja.

Amaechi’s family distributed food items to the orphans at Hope for Survival orphanage at Gishiri village at Jabi.

Amaechi, who was represented by his Media Assistant, Mr Israel Ibeleme, presented the food items containing bags of rice, yam, toiletries and beverages to the children.

“We are here on behalf of the family of Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi to celebrate with the children for God’s abundant blessings, fruitfulness and divine grace upon their family in the past 25 years.

“One interesting thing about this family is their love and passion to give; they have changed the lives of so many Nigerians and are still doing that.

“We pray for more fruitful years ahead for them to celebrate with the children for what God have done in their life.”

Also speaking, the Special Assistant on Technical Matters to Mrs Judith Amaechi, Mr Gazali Mohammed, said that the family was known for reaching out to the poor.

“I have known him (the minister) for a very long time and I have worked with him and I know that he does this a lot. If there is something that attracts me to him it’s his passion for generosity to the less privilege.”

Speaking, the Administrator of the Orphanage, Mr Cephas Thaddeus, expressed his gratitude for the show of love and support.

“We are short of words to show our appreciation to the minister. We congratulate them on this wonderful journey that God will see them through.

“At times we wonder if the government really remembers these children because the turn out here is not encouraging but the minister visit has shown us that there are people out there that have them at heart.

“One of the basic challenges we have is getting scholarship for these children. We have one of them who had to forfeit his admission because there was no money to sponsor him.

“We are soliciting and praying that God will touch his life and other Nigerians to do more in the lives of these children,” he noted.
