By Meletus EZE

Go Round FC produced the shock of Match Day 2 in the 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday with a 2-1 defeat of hosts Abia Warriors in Umuahia.

The Port Harcourt side opened scores in the 37th minute through Sadiq Ololade, while the hosts drew level in the 69th minute through Emeka Isaac’s penalty kick.

But they broke their hosts hearts with substitute Emmanuel Ugwu’s goal in the second minute of added time for a 2-1 win.

The El-Kanemi Warriors had on Sunday stunned hosts Akwa United 1-0 in Uyo for the Match Day 1 upset.

Both sides were not playing on Wednesday, leaving room for both Abia Warriors and Go Round FC to replace them.

But that was not all, as Heartland FC of Owerri and MFM FC won to claim the day’s major wins.

Heartland FC beat Plateau United 3-0, with goals from Efe Yarhere in the 60th minute and Chinonso Okonkwo in the 79th and 87th minutes, with Okonkwo’s second goal a penalty kick.

MFM FC of Lagos beat visiting Kwara United 2-0 at the Agege Stadium, with Segun Alebiosu’s 48th minute own goal and Kabiru Adeniji’s 75th minute goal making the difference.

FC IfeanyiUbah of Nnewi were 1-0 winners over visiting Nasarawa United of Lafia, through Chijioke Alaekwe’s goal in the second minute of added time.

Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna saw Ossy Martins’ 69th minute goal quickly cancelling out Eric  Frimpong’s goal of three minutes earlier, for a 1-1 draw with visiting Rivers United.

El-Kanemi Warriors will host Kano Pillars in another Match Day 2 fixture in Maiduguri on Thursday.
