By Elizabeth ADENUGA

Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on Wednesday commenced training of 20 reporters in North-East zone on use of portable gadgets and mobile phones to effectively report 2019 general elections and beyond.

TBI Africa said NTA Deputy Director of News, Ayo Adewuyi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi that the two-day training would ensure that news stories reach viewers promptly as they unfold.

Adewuyi said that participants would learn techniques of online reporting and video conferencing using mobile phones and other portable gadgets to connect with NTA national headquarters.

“People do not wait for news, therefore, we need to train reporters on reporting events using their mobile phones to connect to NTA online or video conferencing as events are happening,” he said.

Adewuyi explained that the NTA national headquarters has relevant gadgets to connect  with reporters directly during events.

According to him, the participants are expected  to  teach other colleagues upon returning to their respective  stations.
