Fun-seekers from different parts of the country on Monday trooped out to Suntan Beach, Ar-Rakhab Beach and Holiday Resort in Badagry to celebrate Easter with their loved ones.
TBI Africa.com quoted the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who visited the two beaches reports that it was a bee-hive of activities.
It was observed that people from various parts of the country in company with their friends and family members visited the parks to recreate .
At Suntan Beach, there were different activities lined up for the enjoyment of the fun-seekers ranging from horse riding, photo snapping and swimming.
Also, vendors of various food stuffs including ‘suya’ ( spicy grilled meat) and coconuts seized the opportunity provided by the season to sell their goods in and around the beach.
Fun-seekers were seeing in groups under zero-hunt enjoying themselves while others were savouring and watching the natural beauty of the Atlantic Ocean.
Mr Segun Avoseh, who came from FESTAC Town to the beach said that he was there to celebrate with his family.
”Easter holiday provides an opportunity for me to spend quality time with my family.
”We decided to come down here today to have fun not minding the deplorable state of the road from Okoko down to Badagry.
”We got here around 1p.m., but frankly speaking, this is a serene and cool place.
”We are really enjoying the work of nature here at the beach, I wish the government will develop the beach,” he said.
Mrs Josephine Adisa, a widow from Lagos Island waswalso there in company with her four children.
She said that they came to enjoy at the beach.
”This is a period of sober reflection for me as a mother of four because I lost my husband four years ago.
”Before his demise, we used to be here during Easter and Christmas holidays, so I promised my children not to stop the tradition after the death of my husband.
”We are here to thank God for his care and protection on us.
”All the same, the beach is a perfect place for the family to relax, chill and have fun,” she said.
Mr Funso Amosun, a coconut seller, said that he had been recording high patronage and huge profit since the beginning of the day.
”So far, I have made a lot of money through patronage by customers and I’m sure I will still make more money because more revellers will still come.
”I have sold all the first batch of coconuts I brought here in the morning and I have sent for another set. Today has been very profitable; thanks to the fun-seekers.
”I pray to continue to make sales like this daily,” he said.
NAN also observed that at Ar-Rakhab Beach and Holiday Resort, several fun-seekers and revellers were seen catching fun on Easter Monday.
The official in charge of the Beach and Holiday Resort, Mr James Davis, attributed the large turn out to different activities provided by the resort.
Davis said that the serene environment of the place and its safety encouraged the visitors to be there despite the distance.
Mr Femi Atanda from Sango-Ota in Ogun said despite the deplorable state of the road, he came in company with his family members and friends to have fun at the beach.
According to Atanda, ”I almost turned back but because my children insisted on coming down to the beach.”
He appealed to the government controlling the area where the beach is located to repair the roads leading to it.
