South Africa’s state-owned power utility Eskom said on Monday that Group Chief Financial Officer Calib Cassim will retire during the financial year ending March 2027.
Cassim, who has spent 24 years at Eskom and also served for a year as acting Group Chief Executive, played a key role in the utility’s operational recovery and return to profitability.
He told Reuters he was confident his successor would build on the turnaround achieved under the current leadership team.
“I will take a rest and watch Eskom succeed,” Cassim said.
Eskom said it aims to appoint his replacement before the end of the 2026 calendar year.
