Osun Governorship Election: Adeleke’s Appeal, PDP, For hearing Today

The appeals instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alongside its governorship candidate in the September 2018 governorship election in Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, questioning the victory of the Governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola and his All Progressives Congress at the poll, will be entertained today.

This revelation was made public by Adeleke’s lead lawyer, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), who had confirmed to The PUNCH on Sunday (yesterday) that his team had received the hearing notice as it regards today’s hearing.

By their appeal, the appellants are confronting the May 9, 2019, majority judgment of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal which affirmed the victory of Oyetola at the September 2018 poll.

It would be recalled that the three-man tribunal, by a split decision of two to one, in its decision delivered on March 22, 2019, nullified the election of Oyetola and his party, declaring Adeleke and his PDP, as the actual wwinner of the governorship election.

However, on May 9, 2019, the appellate court in a four to one split decision of its five-man panel led by Justice Jummai Sankey, threw out the majority verdict of the tribunal.
