Eid-el-Kabir: Cleric admonishes Muslims on peaceful coexistence

The Chief Imam of Nasarawa State University (NSUK) Central Mosque, Sheikh Ahmed Rufa’I, has admonished Muslims to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence wherever they found themselves.

Rufa’i gave the advice while delivering the Eid-el-Kabir Sermon at the university Eid ground on Tuesday in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

He said that there would be no meaningful development without peace, adding that there is no alternative to peace.

He said that adherent of Islamic religion give more charity to the needy and the disadvantage group who were in dear need of assistance.

“I want to use this medium to appeal to the Muslim Ummah to eschew violence and imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance, togetherness, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence.

“Muslims should strive to give more charity to the needy in this period of Eid and always in order to put smile on their faces,” he said.

The cleric stressed the need for the Muslim faithful to always pray for the nation and its leaders at all levels of government, adding that prayer was a solution to all societal malady.

Earlier, Prof. Sadiq Alkafawi, the Dean, Faculty of Law, NSUK, admonished Muslims to fear Allah wherever they found themselves and an agent of peace building and sustenance.

Alkafawi also enjoined Muslims to pray for the peaceful conduct of the 2019 general elections.

The prayer was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Mohammed Mainoma, and the state Commissioner for Justice and Anthony-General, Dr Abdulkarim Kana, among other dignataries.
