Stop Extorting Corps Members – NYSC DG Warns

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has called on the 2019 Batch ‘B’Stream I Corps members deployed to Gombe State to take the Orientation course seriously and also take time to study publications issued to them.
This was made known when he visited the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp,Amada in Gombe State to interact with the Corps members. Brigadier-General Shuaibu, also drew the attention of the Corps members to the NYSC Act, Orientation/ service guide and Security tips issues to them, adding that the publications would guide them throughout the duration of the one year service. Speaking on proper use of the NYSC kits, the Director-General warned against defacing of the uniform. ” You must use and wear the NYSC kit properly. It is our pride and must be treated as such. Do not embarass us by defacing it” he maintained On the issue of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme, Brigadier-General Shuaibu urged the Corps members to choose at least a skill from the 12 set skills ( and sub-sets) ” ideas are been shared during Orientation programmes and before you know it you will be employers of labour and great entrepreneurs” he added. In his interaction with Staff , he gave a stern warning on extortion of Corps members,calling on all staff to be humane and considerate in their interactions with Corps members. He maintained that any staff caught extorting Corps members shall be dealt with. Meanwhile, the Director-General took his time to visit the Northeast Integrated Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Centre located in the State and inspected facilities. He said the Centre shall be put to use with immediate effect.
