TCN isolates burnt reactor at Benin Sub-Station, restores power transformers

The Management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), says it has isolated the burnt reactor at the Benin Sub Station and restored all power transformers to full service.

The General Manager, Public Affairs of TCN, Mrs Ndidi Mbah said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

According to Mbah, the transformers provide bulk electricity to Benin Distribution Company load points feeding from Benin Station.

The National Grid on Sunday morning experienced a system collapse due to high voltage.

This TCN said was as a result of massive drop of load by the electricity Distribution Companies.

TCN also said that the high voltage also caused a fire outbreak in the 75MX reactor in Benin Substation.

The company said that the massive load drop led to high voltage in the system, which shattered the lightning arrester in close proximity to the 75MX reactor in the Substation.
