551 NAF commander tasks personnel on regular exercises to boost mental alertness

Air Commodore Kabir Aliyu, Commander, 551 Station Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Jos, has charged air force personnel to always engage in physical exercise to boost their mental alertness.

Aliyu gave the charge on Saturday in Jos at the 2019 Annual 10 Kilometer Walk/Jog Exercise for the personnel of the station.

He said that the officers and men needed to be physically and mentally alert to effectively handle their constitutional responsibilities as NAF officers and men.

He commended the Federal and Plateau governments for providing the enabling environment for NAF to operate.

The commander also lauded the police, the Federal Road Safety Corps and other groups who participated in the walk.

In his remarks, Gov. Simon Lalong said that President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to addressing the security challenges bedeviling the country.

Lalong was represented by Mrs Helen Ishaya,  Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths and Sports Development.

“But the expected result can only be achieved through continuous involvement in physical fitness training of the security personnel and providing the right equipment for the NAF to perform its constitutional roles.

“This is because in recent times, sports participation has been able to project the image of NAF well beyond the service frontiers as NAF team is a formidable football team in Nigeria,” he said.

Officer Tuesday Daniel  emerged winner of male category, while officer Ngozi Ogbo emerged winner of the female category.

Meanwhile, Wing Commander Umar Aliyu, Commandant Air Force Military School Jos, emerged first in the men walk category, while Corporal Blessing James emerged first in the female Joggers category.
