Nigeria’s gas reserves hit 200.79TCF

Nigeria has achieved a landmark of of 200.79 Trillion cubic feet of gas reserves as the nation’s daily production now averaging 8.4 billion cubic feet, according to government top official.

This is against 198TCF achieved in 2017

Nigeria since 2010 had set year 2020 for achieving a gas reserves of 200 TCF and a daily crude oil production of 3 million barrels. Though this has been shifted to year 2023.

Of the 200.79 TCF, 101.98 TCF is Associated gas and 98.81TCF Non- Associated Gas.

TBI Africa also informed that an average of 0.8 billion cubic feet, about 11 per cent of the reserve is flare daily.

Further analysis also shows that about 3.5 billion cubic feet of daily production of 8.4 billion cubic feet is exported by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) while about 1.3 billion cubic feet is consumes daily in the domestic market.
