Navy hosts 2019 4th quarter armed forces transformation, Innovation Conference

The Transformation Branch of the Nigerian Navy on Thursday hosted the Fourth Quarter 2019 Armed Forces Transformation and Innovation Conference.

Navy Director of Information, Commodore Suleman Dahun, made this known in a statement in Abuja.

He said the theme of the Conference was “Transformation and Innovation Anchored on Technology”.

Dahun said the purpose of the conference was to keep the Defence and Services Headquarters abreast of the Transformation activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

He said the conference served as an avenue for sharing of ideas and innovation on transformation toward ensuring that all military activities were in sync within the Services.

” In furtherance of the Transformation Plans of the Armed Forces, Quarterly Assembly are held by the Defence Headquarters Department of Transformation and Innovation and Army, Navy and Air Force Transformation Branches.

” The Quarterly meetings are rotated amongst the Defence Headquarters and the three Services.

” During the meetings, resource persons of repute are invited to deliver lectures/papers in furtherance of the Transformation Process.

” It is pertinent to state that for Year 2019, the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force, Defence Headquarters and Army Headquarters hosted the First, Second and Third Quarter meetings, respectively.

” Accordingly, the NN hosted the Fourth Quarter meeting on Thursday Nov. 28, 2019,” he said

He said participating officers, who came from the Defence Headquarters, Army Headquarters, Naval Headquarters, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force and Ministry of Defence deliberated on issues pertaining to the alignment of Innovation and Technology with the Transformation Process.

Dahun said the meeting sought to develop original ideals that would promote use of local content, improved Research and Development (R&D) and out of the box solutions to problems in the Armed Forces.

He said various components of transformation process involving concepts, moral and physical aspects were examined.
