Rural recreation centre records high patronage, profits from festive celebration

A new recreation centre, in One-Man Village, a rural community in Karu, Nasarawa, said it recorded high patronage and profit during the festive season.

Mr Emmanuel Adebajo, manager of the centre said on Friday in Karu, that they do not regret siting the centre in a rural community.

He said that he was excited by the high turnout of fun-seekers, who thronged the recreation centre during the festive period, adding that the crowd was overwhelming.

According to him, business started booming few days to Christmas, we recorded good sales and patronage was high and encouraging.

“I am so happy that business was good, families, lovers, kept increasing, demanding for drinks and other goodies.

“ What gave me joy is the way they kept trooping in, in spite of the economic challenges; children were not left out, they were occupied with numerous activities.

“The idea of locating a recreation centre in this area is based on the fact that there are no such facilities here and also bearing in mind that people had to travel to Abuja main town for fun and relaxation.

“Situating such facility in Karu is for families to know that recreation centres can be located anywhere.

”Although, we were scared initially that the turnout may be low but we were surprised at the massive turnout and we are grateful to God.

“For years, there was no record of any unique thing in the area, and coming up with this idea has made families to celebrate their day with great joy.

”The issue of security was sorted out before the festive period, we thank God that the environment was calm and devoid of violence,” he said.

A pop-corn vendor, Mr Bayo Olu, said that he was so impressed with sales and wished business would continue that way.

“How I wish business would continue the way it was in the festive period, so that we can meet up with our financial obligations to our families.

Meanwhile, some of the fun-seekers, said that they were excited about the new recreation centre located in their area and commended the management for the idea.

Mrs Chioma Jude, mother of two, said that she was excited about the new recreation centre and commended the management for the initiative, adding that her family felt fulfilled this festive period.

” This development has relieved us as parents, the stress of going to town for celebration especially if one does not have a car,” she said.

Mr Joel Olanrewaju, a civil servant, commended the management for the initiative of bringing the centre to One-Man Village, Nasarawa.

He, however, urged them to improve on the available children’s toys and games, to make the place more active and enjoyable for children.
