The Creative Industry Group (CIG) on Tuesday urged the Federal Government to make more palliatives available to Nigerians to urgently tackle insecurity arising from the COVID-19 lockdown.
The National President of the Group, Felix Duke, said in a statement that the palliatives should be in form of cash transfer through the BVN and other legitimate means to Nigerians, irrespective of their social or economic status.
“Good enough, the awareness of COVID-19 about its devastating effects is geometrically increasing.
“Also, some salient information are made available to possibly avoid it, through regular application of sanitisers, personal hygiene, social distancing, keeping safe by staying indoors, among others
“However, as a Group, we find the aforementioned laudable, but not satisfying with the ways and methods adopted by various state governments and the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19.
“The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and all relevant agencies saddled with the responsibilities of tackling and fighting this dreaded scourge, need to step up their efforts, our submission,” Duke said.
According to him, the insecurity situation in the country is becoming unbearable.
Duke explained that the current situation was due to unrest mitigated by hoodlums, miscreants and restless youths.
He said that the security personnel were overwhelmed with the happenings currently around the country.
The group president said that prompt response and right information should be dispensed adequately by relevant government agencies to create ambience for trust and probity to the people.
Duke said that the group had trained well over 500,000 people and contributed immensely to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), pride, glory and honour of the country.
“We are still readily available and accessible to partner and share in our best possible ways to helping all strata of government in getting out of the problems facing the country,” he said.
