Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa has the Covid-19 lockdown of the state has not been effective because local government leadership was not involved in the enforcement.
The Speaker made his views known in a tweet on Thursday night.
While commending the state commissioner for health, Professor Akin Abayomi and the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for their “unrelenting effort” at combating the pandemic in Lagos State, Obasa however, noted that the lockdown in the state had not been “quite effective”given that number of new cases have continue to rise in some local governments.
He called for the involvement of local government officials, especially the chairmen for more effective lockdown enforcement.
“I commend the commissioner for health, professor Akin Abayomi, thru him to the Executive Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for your unrelenting effort on Covid-19. But I must say that the lockdown is not quite effective, can we domesticate the lockdown by involving the Local government?
“Just as we have the incident Command at the State level, can we replicate same at those local Government with high rising number of Covid-19. If the lockdown will continue, it is better we move with all strategies”
