779 new COVID-19 cases recorded in 22 states, FCT

Nigeria’s confirmed cases of coronavirus reached 24,077 on Saturday following 779 fresh infections, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said in an update.

Lagos recorded 285 of the 779 cases, followed by Rivers with – 68, FCT and Edo with 60 each and Enugu 56.

The rest are: Delta-47; Ebonyi-42; Oyo-41; Kaduna-19; Ogun-18; Ondo-16; Imo-12; Sokoto-11; Borno-9; Nasarawa-8; Abia-5; Gombe-5; Kebbi-5; Kano-4; Yobe-3; Ekiti-3; and Osun-2.

The total confirmed cases so far in Nigeria now stands at 24,077 of which 8,625 have been discharged.

However, the infection has claimed 558 lives.

Lagos discharges 55

In a separate update on Saturday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State said 55 coronavirus patients were discharged.

Sixteen of them are 16 females and 39 males including 16 foreign nationals.

Fourteen were discharged from Onikan, five from Gbagada, five from Mainland Infectious Disease Hospita, Yaba, eight from Agidingbi, six from Lekki, four from Eti-Osa (LandMark), four from First Cardiology and nine from LUTH Isolation Centres were discharged after full recovery and testing negative to COVID-19.

This brings to 1419, the number of #COVID19 confirmed cases that have been successfully managed and discharged in Lagos.
