Nigeria, Ghana to co-host anglophone film festival

According to a statement issued on Thursday in Jos by Mr Brian Etuk, Head,Public and Inter Governmental Affairs, Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), the festival would be held biennially.

The co-hosting of an Anglophone film festival between the two countries is an effort to strengthen bilateral relations in the area of art and culture.

“Beginning from 2020, the film festival will alternate between Nigeria and Ghana, at selected venues in both countries.

“This and other positive collaborative decisions were taken recently in Ghana, when Dr Chidia Maduekwe, Managing Director, NFC, paid a visit to Ghana Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture,’’ the statement said.

It also said that Dr Ziblim Iddi, head of Ghana team said the gesture would promote and create an enabling environment for African film makers to collaborate with other international film makers for businesses.

According to the document, Maduekwe said part of the collaborations was a formalised co-production agreement between Nigeria and Ghana and provisions for students exchange programme between premiere film institutes of both nations.
