EKEDC warns customers against patronising fake meter providers

The management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), has warned customers within its networks against patronising fake Meter Asset Providers (MAPs), for installation of prepaid meters in their residences.

Mr Godwin Idemudia, the General Manager, Corporate Communications Unit, EKEDC, gave the warning in a statement in Lagos.

Idemidia said that it had come to the notice of the company that one Chintech Electro Nig. Ltd. claimed to be and was parading itself as a MAPs affiliated with EKEDC.

“This is to notify the general public and particularly our esteemed customers that the company is not an agent of Eko Disco with respect to sale or installation of prepaid meter to our customers.

“Be advised that we have never authorised Chintech Electro Nigeria Limited or company affiliated with it to operate as a MAP in EKEDC’s distribution networks or to represent EKEDC on any issue,” he said.

Idemudia, however, said that Eko Disco management had reported the company to appropriate authorities for necessary action.

“Chintech Electro Nig. Ltd. has been reported to the appropriate authorities which are currently investigating its unauthorised activities with respect to the illegal sale of meters to our customers.

“We, hereby warn that no business should be engaged with the company, its agents or affiliates, on the grounds of being linked with EKEDC for whatever purpose.

“Any customer who engages in meter installation with the company will be doing so at his own risk as EKEDC will not be held liable,” he said.
