Nigerian Shippers’ Council Lauds Oyetola On Dagbolu Inland Dry Port

Leadership of Nigerian Shippers’ Council has applauded Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on efforts taken towards the development of Dagbolu Inland Dry Port.

The council said that the efforts will no doubt aid the transformation of business and commercial activities in the state.

Mr. Glory Onojedo, the Director, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Southwest Zone, gave the commendation during a visit tour to Dagbolu Dry Port which is codenamed O’ Hub at Dagbolu along Ikirun- Osogbo road.

Mr Onojedo said the Inland Dry Port is a project being promoted by the Federal government to bring shipping and Port services closer to the hinterlands.

He stated further that the visit to the project site has shown Osun is capable and set for the project as land has been allocated, stressing that soon the exchange of letters ceeding the land to Federal government for the procurement of concessionaire would be made available in earnest.

In his address, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, said the ultimate goal in setting the ball rolling for the takeoff of the international trade centre by the administration of Mr. Gboyega Oyetola is to return Osun back to its   state of glory in merchandise and commodity exchange.

Dr. Olaonipekun stated that the dry Port would be the greatest asset the State would have as great commercial frontiers would be opened.

The Commissioner explained that 20,000 traders have been registered in collaboration with the State investment partners to move sellable products and items; both farm products, finished goods, clothings among others into the dry Port for merchandise. Adding that, over 250 products being produced in the State are ready for exportation.

He reaffirmed that the State government has commenced payment of compensation to Farmers and land owners at the location of the international market.

Director of Akbeeb Investment Limited, Barrister Akeem Olaniyan, also speaking, said about 120 acres of land have been cleared in preparation for the commencement of the project and soon turning of sod would be done by the Governor of the State.

On the entourage to the project site were: delegates of Nigerian Shippers’Council, Engr. Aremu Alabi, Mr. Nwogu Uche, Alhaji A.Adesokan, Elder Oyewole , Senior Special Assistance to the Governor on Market Development , Alhaji Hakeem Okunade and Director Commerce, Mrs. Ajibola Falode.
