Northern Governors Forum mourns Balarabe Musa

The Northern Governors Forum has expressed sadness over the death of a former Governor of the old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa.

Balarabe, 84, died in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Chairman of the forum and Governor of Plateau, Mr. Simon Lalong, in a condolence message issued on Wednesday in Jos by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Macham, described Balarabe’s death as a loss to the North and Nigeria.

“Former Gov. Balarabe Musa is without doubt a political giant in the history of Nigeria as he demonstrated patriotism, passion and selflessness in his engagements.

“He was a principled man who stood for his convictions even when many did not agree with him. He demonstrated that governance is truly about service and he lived a very simple life,” Lalong said.

He said that the deceased passionately campaigned against oppression, injustice, corruption and crime, noting that his stance motivated many young people to emulate him.

The Northern Governors Forum chair said the legacies of the late elder statesman would remain evergreen as his virtues were an inspiration to many who had positively impacted the nation.

He urged the government and people of Kaduna State to take solace in the good work of the late governor.

Balarabe was a Governor of the old Kaduna State, comprising present the Kaduna and Katsina States in the Second Republic.

He died at the age of 84 years.
