DPR ‘ll ensure buyers not shortchanged in Kwara- official

Mr Sule Yusuf, the Operations Controller of Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Ilorin Office says DPR will ensure marketers do not shortchange unsuspecting buyers in Kwara.

Yusuf disclosed this in an interview in Ilorin on Friday.

According to him, DPR will ensure compliance to ensure customers get value for their money.

“We will ensure that buyers are not shortchanged by marketers of filling stations and we will enforce compliance so that customers will get value for money

“If you are buying five litres, it should be exactly five litres not four litres, so shortchanging is not acceptable,” the controller said.

Yusuf stated that any marketer caught to have adjusted pump in order to cheat buyers would be sanctioned.

According to him, marketers already know  that the sanctions are in many folds.

“If you are found shortchanging buyers, we will first of all decommission the particular pump that is affected.

”If it is man-made, we will know and if it is mechanical deficiency, we will know.

“So, we will advise you to fix it and the marketer will pay a fine before the pump will be recommissioned.

“The enforcement is an ongoing process as our officers are already within the town monitoring filling stations in case of any anomaly.

“We also act on information from residents, so we urge residents to always call our attention to any issue discovered,” he said.

He restated the agency’s committment towards quality service delivery to the people of the state.

He noted that Nigerians deserved the best service, saying that DPR under his  watch would not compromise in ensuring that the populace are given the right access to consumable products at all times.
