Science Tecch Innovation: Nigeria to partner Turkey

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has expressed the country’s readiness to partner with the Turkish Government on Science Technology and Innovation (STI).

Onu stated this when he received the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Hidayet Bayraktar in his office, Abuja on Monday.

He noted that STI has been in the forefront moving the economy away from relying entirely on commodities to knowledge that is innovation driven.

In his words, ‘’Federal Ministry of Science and Technology in Nigeria has been at the forefront to help our nation Nigeria move our economy away from relying entirely on commodities, Raw Materials like Crude oil and Natural Gas’’ etc.

The Minister stated that there are ongoing reforms in the country through the number of policies put in place, which will assist the country in achieving its mandate.

Onu requested the visit of the Minister of Science and Technology of Turkey to Nigeria to enable the two countries re-open doors of mutual relationship in the areas of cooperation.

Earlier in his remarks, the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria Hidayet Bayraktar requested the Honourable Minister Partnership in the country in area of Technology and Innovation which he said will enable the two countries to have a mutual cooperation.
