NB PLc commissions 663.6 KWP solar power plant

… donated $10, 000 to support develop Asejire dam

Nigerian Breweries PLc has commissioned it’s 663.6 KWP solar Power plant at its Ibadan Brewery over the weekend.

Speaking at the occasion, the company’s Chairman Chief Kolawole Jamodu disclosed that the project marks an important milestone in the company’s history and development.

Jamodu said, Ibadan Brewery which is the third largest of his company’s plant was used as the pilot project because of the importance NBL attache to the Oyo people.

The NB PLc boss stated that the company which started small in 1936 now has nine fully operational breweries across the country, where high quality products are churn out from for the benefits of Nigerians.

The former Minister of Industry said, ” from a humble beginning in 1946, the company now has nine fully operational Breweries from which it’s high quality products are produced and distributed to all parts of Nigeria, in addition the two malting plants in Aba and Kaduna,” he said.

In his remarks, the company Managing Director / Chief Executive Offer ( MD/ CEO) Mr Jordi Borrut Bel said the company was the first manufacturing company in Nigeria to commission clean renewable plant in Nigeria and hopes will not be the last.

Bel promised that the company was in the process to commissions similar projects in its Ama, Aba, Enugu, Lagos and in the other plants of the company.
The NBL boss stressed that his company paid much value to renewable energy because of the great benefits to the society, adding that the company is also providing clean water to its neighborhood.

The top manufacturer disclosed that his company company has donated $10, 000 to help develop Asejire dam closed to the Ibadan plant.

“We are looking forward to partnership with other partners to deliver more renewable projects in Nigeria,” he promised.

According to him, we want to be the first in protecting environment in Nigeria.
Also, speaking, the Governor of Oyo State Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde commended the company for its support to his state, calling on other private firms to follow suit.

The governor promised that his administration would continue to creat an enebling environment to boost economic development of his state.

Makinde said with the commissioning of this project, his administration is challenged to do more for the businesses in the state, adding that he looks forward to providing more amenities to the businesses of the state.

He called on the NBL PLc to invest more in the state, saying that he is delighted that NB PLc choose Oyo State as the pilot of the project.

“Oyo State is the pacesetter of Nigeria. I am delighted that when the history of renewable projects of NBL Plc would be written, Ibadan Brewery plant will be said to pilot the project,” he stressed.

He disclosed that he recently commissioned a 65 kilometer Moniyan road , pointing out that the road has attracted many farm settlements to the area .
