NDLEA Nabs Italy-bound Woman with 100 Wraps of Heroin

An Italy-bound woman, Ms. Nnadi Chinyere has been caught by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with two parcels plus 100 wraps of heroin at the departure hall of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

Nnadi, according to a statement that was issued yesterday by the Spokesman of the NDLEA, was arrested on Tuesday August 3, 2021, during an outward clearance of passengers on Qatar Airways flight to Florence, Italy.

He said the drugs found on her were concealed in five containers of hair relaxer cream.

In the same vein, on Thursday, August 12, 2021, a United Kingdom bound consignment of illicit drugs was intercepted at the NAHCO export shed of the airport by the operatives of the MMIA Command of the agency.

Babafemi said further investigation revealed that the consignment contained 66.600 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa; 1.600 kilogrammes of heroin and 1.450 kilogrammes of cocaine with a combined weight of 69.65 kilogrammes, all concealed inside cosmetics.

He revealed that on Thursday, August 5, narcotic officers on routine patrol intercepted another consignment of 25.8 kilogrammes of cocaine and cannabis concealed inside foodstuffs going to London, UK at NAHCO export warehouse.

He said when the export package was opened and examined, 2.3 kilogrammes of cocaine and 23.5 kilogrammes of compressed cannabis were discovered inside.

Also, during a patrol operation along Akure-Owo Road, a team of operatives from Owo Area Command of the agency equally intercepted a bus from Lagos enroute Owo to Ibilo, Kogi State on August 7, and recovered from the vehicle six parcels of skunk weighing 3.6 kilogrammes; 30 pinches of Crack Cocaine weighing 87grams and six sachets of Arizona weighing 265 grammes.

He added that two suspects have been arrested in connection with drug trafficking.

Meanwhile, on Friday, August 13, the Benue State Command of the agency arrested an interstate trafficker, Eze Victor Ezenwanne at Apir- Aliade Road, Makurdi, with 65.436 kilogrammes of diazepam tablets.

He said that on the same day, a suspected fake soldier, Mr. Adeyemi Olamide, was arrested in Maiduguri, Borno State with 650 grammes of skunk while a Nigerian Army ex-staff sergeant, Mr. Muffat Ekong, and one Mr. Frank Obamwonyi, were arrested on Wednesday, August 11, with 286.3 kilogrammes of cannabis at Ogwashi Uku, Delta State on their way to Enugu State.

In his reaction, the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) commended the officers and men of the MMIA command as well as their Ondo, Borno, Benue and Delta State counterparts for the huge seizures and arrests.

Marwa, however, charged them and other commands to sustain the current momentum, assuring them that President Muhammadu Buhari recognised their efforts and would continue to motivate them to do more.
