Remit workers’ pension contributions, others, unions tell FAAN

Airport workers’ unions have issued deadlines to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria for the remittance of workers’ outstanding cooperative deductions and pension contributions, among others.

The unions are the National Union of Air Transport Employees, the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals, and the National Union of Pensioners, FAAN branch.

The unions, in a letter addressed to the Managing Director, Federal Airports of Authority, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, resolved to act should their petitions go unnoticed.

They said the management of FAAN must within the next seven days remit all outstanding cooperative deductions and continue to remit and deduct as and when due.

The unions said, “All pending furniture grants must be settled latest by the end of December 2021, the long overdue staff actuarial valuation must be conducted and concluded within the next 30 days, and remittances of outstanding staff pension contribution.

“It is our expectation that these genuine demands shall be treated with the required utmost urgency. Failure to do this would leave us with no other option than to execute the congress mandates by any means necessary.”
