We need N13b to fix failed portions of Sango-Ota road, says Abiodun

Group lauds state govt’s achievements, condemns critics

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, yesterday, said about N13 billion would be required to fix failed portions of the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Road in Sango-Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Council of the state.

Abiodun disclosed this during a town hall meeting on 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and 2022 Budget for Ogun West Senatorial District, held at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The governor, who noted that Sango-Ota was strategic to the state and the nation, said people could not be left to suffer unnecessary hardship.

He said: “The issue is about funding. About N13 billion is needed to fix the failed portions of that road and the Federal Government is tinkering with Sukkuk Bond.”

Abiodun stressed that construction work was ongoing at Ilaro- Owode-Idi-Iroko road in Yewa South, Oke-Ola and Ago-Oshoffa road in Imeko Local Council, and others, while 50 units of houses were being built at Ilaro and 130 units at Sango-Ota for medium income earners.

He reiterated government’s commitment to give the district the desire attention as the industrial hub of the state.

MEANWHILE, a non-governmental organisation, Olatunde Awonuga Foundation (OLAF), has urged the critics of Governor Abiodun to be fair in their judgment with regards to the rating of the achievements of his administration in the last two years.

In a statement, yesterday, Chairman and Founder of the Foundation, Mr. Olatunde Awonuga, condemned the erroneous impression being peddled by some critics that the performance of Abidun administration was below expectation.

Awonuga stressed that the steady achievements of the Abiodun-led administration in the areas of agricultural development, trade and investment promotion, primary healthcare delivery, educational development, road construction and rehabilitation, as well as the effective control of the COVID-19 global pandemic since its outbreak last year, could not be over-emphasised.

He said that the dexterity and efficiency with which the Ogun State government had managed the pandemic speaks volume of the huge commitment, professionalism and expertise of the state medical team.

Awonuga said that the administration should also be appreciated for its giant strides towards making Ogun State a global investment destination.
