Imo monarch flees as gunmen kill two in community

Gunmen have killed two people at the Etekwuru Autonomous Community in Ohaji/ Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, eyewitnesses said the attackers came in a convoy of vehicles and destroyed properties.

Many villagers were injured in the attack which occurred at about 4a.m on Wednesday.

The traditional ruler, Eze Kenneth Okereke, who confirmed the attack, called on security agents to save his subjects.

The monarch wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to Governor Hope Uzodimma, saying he fled his palace following an attack two months ago, Gunmen on October 21 burnt the palace and his official vehicle. It came two days after some hoodlums and military men clashed in the community, during which two soldiers were killed.

Police spokesperson, Michael Abattam, a Chief Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident “It is true. We have commenced investigation to ascertain the cause of the attack,” he said.
