Creative group urges members to diversify to improve incomes

The President, Creative Industry Group (CIG), Felix Duke, has urged musicians, actors and other creative individuals to diversify their investments to boost incomes.

Duke gave the advice during an interaction with executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Lagos, Chapel, on Saturday.

He said that it was important that musicians, actors and actresses would invest in other businesses to have more incomes.

”Many have money but no investment. One of the things CIG keeps encouraging members and other creatives to do, is diversify.

”There is nothing stopping an actor from having an investment in real estate and other industries.

”Having other businesses aside singing or acting is an alternative insurance for one’s future,” he said.

The CIG president said that a lot of creative individuals found it difficult to survive when no longer active in their careers because of lack of investment in other areas.

“Think of the future, you can’t always be active in that career but your side business will serve as pension, something to fall back on. This is what CIG is all about,” he said.

Duke said that CIG was more than a group of creative.

He said that CIG was a platform where members were being encouraged to utilise their savings to secure a better future.

He said that CIG was established to become a revenue base for Nigerians and a financial safety net for all its members.

“We have continually birthed projects to improve the livelihoods of our members as well as other Nigerians willing to benefit from same.” he said.

The president added that CIG had a welfare package for registered members, noting that such members’ health was insured with a token after registration.
