- Assembles 2,500 Ulamas To Pray For His Ambition
The Director-General, Ahmed Tinubu Support Group Management Council, Abdulmunin Jibril, yesterday, revealed that All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would contest next year’s presidential election and would officially unveil his ambition at a later date.
Speaking during an international press conference in Kano, Jibril said: “The issue of whether Tinubu will contest or not, especially when he has not come out publicly to declare his ambition, does not count. I can confirm to you today, and authoritatively, that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will contest the presidential race.”
Meanwhile, Jibril also hosted 2,500 Ulamas to pray for Tinubu’s presidential ambition. The prayers held at his country home in Kofa Town, Bebeji Local Council, was conceived to seek Divine intervention for his presidential ambition.
Leading the prayers was the Chief Imam of Kafin Ma’yaki Village, Shiekh Rabiu Muhammad, who prayed for an end to incessant security threats and economic challenges confronting the country.
The Sheikh, who elicited the Almighty’s favour for quality leadership in the country, particularly, invoked God’s mercy to actualise Tinubu’s presidential ambition in 2023.
Jubril said: “ It is a New Year. I feel the best way to start the year is to hold a special prayer session for peace and stability in Nigeria, and special prayers for the success of Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu’s presidential ambition in the forthcoming 2023 elections, which was performed by 2,500 Ulamas from all over Kano.
“As the director-general of the support groups management council, I met him and we had one-on- one discussion. He has confirmed he would contest the race. The official declaration will come soonest. So, let me use this opportunity to clear all doubts.”
Jubril is coordinating over 2,000 support groups on Tinubu’s presidential ambition. Jibril, former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, emphasised that Tinubu remained the best presidential candidate, insisting that “no candidate in APC can beat Asiwaju’s pedigrees.”
Reeling out rationale for pitching tent behind Tinubu, he said the “former Lagos State Governor is detribalised Nigerian, who has shared massive network across length and breadth of the country.”
He reminded people of Tinubu’s startling leadership footprint in Lagos State, which transformed the state into a megacity and economic nerve centre of West Africa.
While reacting to the possibility of Muslim/Muslim candidates in Nigeria if Tinubu eventually won the APC ticket, Jibril insisted that Nigerians would rather vote for competent candidates and ignored religious sentiment during the election.
