BRT: We’ve resolved issues with diesel supplier – Petrocam, says Primero

The Primero Transport Services Limited, operator of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Lagos, says it has resolved issues of indebtedness with diesel supplier, the Petrocam Trading Nigeria Limited.

The diesel supplier, according to a newspaper’s report on Sunday had filed a petition to halt Lagos BRT operations on grounds of insolvency against Primero Transport Services Limited.

Mr Mutiu Yekeen, Head, Corporate Communications, Primero Transport Services Limited, urged the media to also be ethical by balancing their reports.

Yekeen said: “Our attention has been drawn to a story circulated by ‘Daily Trust’ and other online media on Feb. 6 titled – “Unpaid Debt: Fuel Supplier Asks Court to Halt Lagos BRT Operations”.

“We will like to put the record straight. The matter was from last year and has been resolved by both parties.

“The alleged aggrieved diesel supplier, Petrocam Trading Nigeria Limited is still supplying diesel for Primero operations across Lagos State weekly as of today.

“The Nigerian media professionals need to understand that “it is prejudicial to give details of a matter pending in court to the public.”

According to him, the media has the right to investigate a story from both parties before publishing.

“We find it unethical that none of the news outlets deemed it fit to contact Primero to get our side of the story before going to press,” he said.
