Again, NNPC fails to appear before Reps panel

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited and its subsidiaries, yesterday, failed again, to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts investigating non-revenue remittances to the treasury following the audit report of the Auditor General of the Federation covering 2014 to 2019.

At the resumed hearing, the corporation, in a letter to the panel chairman, Oluwole Oke, the Managing Director, Mele Kyari, stated that he was engaged in a function on the theft of crude oil in the Niger Delta, hence his unavailability.

The committee, therefore, acceded to his request for an extension, fixing April 29 when it is hoped Kyari would appear in person with relevant documents.

MOREOVER, the lawmakers regretted the abuse of fiscal regulations by individuals and companies evading taxes
