Train attack: PRP aspirant urges FG to support families of victims

A female presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Mrs Patience Key, has condemned the attack on Abuja-Kaduna passenger train, urging the Federal Government to support the families of the victims.

No fewer than eight persons have been confirmed dead and 41 hospitalised due to the attack, according to reports.

Key, the immediate Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Americas, U.S., made the appeal in an interview in New York.

“I’m calling on the Nigerian government to give the families of the victims of the terrorists the necessary support and assistance to push through this trying times.

“The government should support them while utilising the available resources at their custody to make sure they secure the release of every Nigerian kidnapped unharmed,’’ she said.

Key, however, extended her heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, wished a prompt recovery to those receiving treatment and called for the immediate release of those abducted.

“My condolence to the families of the victims; this is unbearable but the Almighty God who sees all and who allowed this to happen will comfort you in His own way.

“To my fellow Nigerians, may God comfort us all and give us the strength to manage our predicaments and continue to fight these anomalies as a people,” she said.

She emphasised that the neglected activities of terrorists in Kaduna state was highly condemnable and should be stopped lest it metamorphosises into an unstoppable catastrophe.

Key challenged the Buhari-led administration to stand up to its primary responsibility of securing the lives and property of Nigerians it swore to protect.

The aspirant also urged Buhari to issue a strong statement and back it with a decisive action to securing the lives and property of Nigerians.

“Nigerians want to see a display of its sovereignty at this time as a means of honouring the memories of victims of the terrorists,’’ she said.

Key further reiterated that returning Nigeria to its former glory is possible through a strong and viable leader, urging Nigerians to vote for her in the forthcoming elections.

She said Nigeria needed a strong-will female president like her who understands the value of life as a catalyst of creation to lead her.

The aspirant added that, if elected president, she would initiate a formidable strategy that would restore peace permanently and place top priority on securing lives and property of Nigerians in her government.
