CIBN Plans Modern CBT Centre for Versity admission seekers

An ultra-modern Computer Based Test (CBT) centre will soon be available for use by students seeking admission into Nigeria universities through the annual exams conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The centre is part of a multimillion Naira permanent office building currently being embarked by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Lagos State branch, of which the ground breaking ceremony was conducted Thursday in Lagos.

Disclosing this in his welcome address at the occasion, Peter Ashade, Branch Chairman, CIBN, Lagos State Branch stayed that the second floor of the five storey architectural master piece will be used as computer galleria for CBT and ICT training purposes.

“The second floor would be used as computer galleria. It’s noted that Yaba has become the ICT Hub of the state and in promoting the institute’s core mandate of capacity building and examinations, Computer Based Test (CBT) shall be conducted here in addition to ICT training”, Ashade disclosed.

Also speaking at the ground breaking ceremony recently, the outgoing  President and Chairman of Council of the institute, Bayo Olugbemi,   noted that the five storey architectural  building which would come with ultra-modern gadgets, will bolster the performances of the bankers through lectures, researches and other activities in a comfortable environment.

The project, when completed, Olugbemi said will upscale competence training and development of future-ready bankers.

“This project is, in deed, our modest contribution towards the promotion of banking.”

“We need to do  much more for the up coming bankers, the future bankers in terms of capacity building.  I felt that we had to put up a legacy project that will out live us. So that they can have a place they can call their own, recieve lectures in a good ambience that is  internet ready.

The CIBN president stated: “The Governing Council of our great Institute resolved to institute legacy projects in six geo-political zones in Nigeria. By God’s grace we have been able to commission four out of six, the other two are at advanced stage and would be ready soon. We got approval to support the Lagos branch on this project, the Ilorin branch, Osogbo branch, Owerri branch and we have bought property for Ogun branch during my tenure. I’m happy we’ve been able to achieve this with the support of the governing council and all our stakeholders in the industry.”

Building Committee Chairman, Kola Abdul, said the building, which would be completed in a reasonable time, would advance the institute’s cause as a professional body.

A member of the building committee, Mr Lawrence Jompe, stated that CIBN is doing all in its power to building capacity of citizens.

Jompe called on Nigerians and cooperate bodies to emulate CIBN as it is partnering with government in human capacity development.
