Apata clinches APC House of Assembly ticket for Somolu 2

Mr Samuel Apata has won the APC primary election for Lagos Somolu Constituency 2 of Lagos State.

Apata polled 16 votes at the election held on Friday at Bariga Local Council Development Area Secretariat.

Announcing the result, Mr Olaibi Blaize, the Chairman of the five-man APC Electoral Committee for the state constituency, said that Apata defeated his lone rival, Mr Gboyega Salau, who polled 13 votes.

Blaize said that 30 ad-hoc delegates, drawn from six wards in the constituency, were accredited and they voted.

He said that there was no invalid vote.

He said: “After the sorting and counting of votes, Hon. Samuel Apata scored 16 votes while Hon. Gboyega Salau scored 13 votes.

” Having scored the highest vote in the primary election, on behalf of the party chairman and the electoral committee, l hereby declare you, Samuel Olutayo Apata, the winner of the election.

In his acceptance speech, Apata, thanked the delegates for believing in him, and promised not to let them down.

He said that the victory was an affirmation that he had been for the people, and pledged to continue to give quality representation.

“The people came out and voted, and it was  victory for me.

” I am grateful to the people of Somolu Constituency 2, especially the delegates and party leaders.

The  primary election was conducted under  heavy presence of security personnel and watch of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
