National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has flayed alleged attack on members loading petroleum products across NNPC depots and private depots within Rivers State.
The association directed its members to withdraw their services anywhere they were harassed by “unauthorised” levy collectors using army and police and claiming to be acting on orders from above.
IPMAN President, Debo Ahmed, following complaints from members in the state about harassment, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, yesterday, stated that the association had not authorised anybody to harass or intimidate its members under the guise of levy collection.
The statement reads: “The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has been informed of some series of unwarranted attacks against members loading petroleum products across NNPC depots and private depots within Rivers State by a group of disgruntled people using army and police, claiming to be acting on orders from above.
“Kindly be informed that we have not authorised anybody to harass or intimidate our members under the guise of levy collection.
“On behalf of IPMAN NEC, I direct that you withdraw your services anywhere you find them trying to execute this evil plot.”
