The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on architects to embrace professionalism and industry’s best practices to consolidate public confidence in the Lagos State’s built environment.
Sanwo-Olu spoke on Thursday at an event organised by the Nigerian Institute of Architects to make this year’s edition of the Lagos Architects Conference.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Aramide Adeyoye, commended the Lagos NIA for demonstrating leadership and a spirit of excellence which have seen architects engage in several nation-building activities across the country, particularly in Lagos State.
“Your contributions to various developmental dialogues, employment of the youth, financial reforms, and sustainable development have continued to positively impact the citizens of this state and on behalf of the people of Lagos State, we thank you,” the governor said.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Lagos State NIA, David Majekodunmi, said this year’s conference aimed to highlight the gradual development of Lagos by X-raying the city’s form, transportation system, expansion, infrastructural development, and other built environment systems and government activities through the MDAs of Lagos State.
He said, “We will continue to appeal to all governments, policymakers, regulators, legislators, captains of industries, and all industry stakeholders to incorporate the outcomes of this forum into their plans, programmes, and policies for a better operating environment that will have the desired positive effect on our respective economies.”
