DSS mum over arrest of NIRSAL CEO, alleged proposed train attack

The Department of State Services (DSS) has kept mum over the arrest of the Chief Executive of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), Abbas Umar Masanawa.

Masanawa was reportedly arrested for his alleged role in the ongoing corruption probe of the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

But spokesman of the agency, Peter Afunanya, did not respond to enquiries on the development.

It was gathered that Masanawa was arrested three weeks ago and has been in custody since then.

The Service also said nothing about a memo on plot by bandits to attack the Abuja-Kaduna train service.

A copy of the memo circulated online since Wednesday was signed by R. N. Dopemu, for the State Director of the FCT Command.

The memo dated August 1, 2023 was addressed to the Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation.
