Gunmen attack and kill 4 in Nasarawa supermarket

Gunmen, suspected to be armed robbers, have killed four people in an attack on a popular supermarket in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The gunmen stormed the Wisdom Supermarket in One-man Village near Mararaba around 8:45 pm on Tuesday, firing shots indiscriminately.
Upon gaining entry into the supermarket, the assailants fired at people within the vicinity, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. Reports suggest that the deceased were customers engaged in late evening shopping.
The incident led other shop owners to shut down their shops and flee for safety.
Confirming the killings, the Nasarawa Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, stated that the command received a distress call around 8:45 pm alerting them to the attack.
Nansel said that four armed assailants entered the supermarket, opening fire on the customers. Although the police quickly mobilised to the scene, the criminals had already fled.
The victims’ bodies were recovered and taken to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Their remains were deposited at the morgue.
In response to the event, the Commissioner of Police directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigations to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.
