Age falsification scandal hits TCN, calls for probe

By Charles Okonji
Age falsification scandal is currently rocking the management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), an arm of Nigeria’s power sector.
According to the source, who asked not to be named, the identified senior operatives of the Company involved in the age racketeering scandal, were hoping that they would get their years in the service extended, beyond their retirement ages.
For instance, in a documents obtained by TBI Africa Magazine , it shows that the General Manager, TCN Market Operations, Engr Edmund Eje, who is allegedly to be scheming to be Executive Director, has falsified his age , as was also published in the Market Operator website of TCN.
In the document obtained, Engr Eje was born in Umuihi-Ihitte of Ihitte/Uboma LGA, Imo State in 1966 and started his primary school at Central School, Ihitte, Imo State in 1967.
A credible source told TBI Africa Magazine that many of such people are positioning themselves for appointments.
“This is what is going on and it is scandalous. Something has to be done. How can someone claimed to be born in 1966 and started his primary school in 1967. This needs to be looked into. Such person should not be allow to take leadership role,” the source said
It was also learnt that the General Manager HR, ISO TCN, who is also scheming to be Executive Director HR TCN, who should flag such records, is also guilty of age falsification by changing her date of birth in NEPA/PHCN to another in TCN after privatization, to stay longer in service.
Efforts to get Engr Eje’s side did not yield result as he did not respond to email, sms and calls.
Engr. EddyEje is happily married.
