Sanwo-Olu pledges infrastructure upliftmentin Epe, describes Epe as little London

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s determination to harness Epe’s tourism and growth potentials through the provision of adequate infrastructure.

Mr Adeshina Odunuga, Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, said this in a statement on Friday in Lagos.

Odunuga said this was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure Engineer Olufemi Daramola during an on-the-spot assessment of some projects that are critically significant to the administration’s THEMES+ Agenda in Epe.

“To further the administration’s commitment to take infrastructural development to all parts of the State, Mr Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s determination to harness Epe’s tourism and growth potentials through the provision of adequate infrastructure,” Daramola said.

According to him, this is part of Sanwo-Olu’s determination to extend infrastructure development to every part of the State.

He said that the Governor decided to prioritise the rehabilitation, reconstruction and provision of essential infrastructures in Epe, to promote economic development and improve the living conditions of the people.

According to him, a key quality of this administration is the policy of inclusiveness, not leaving any part of the State behind and that is why we have come to see for ourselves the road infrastructure and relocation projects that will boost and improve local socio-economic activities and complement the growth potential of Epe.

Daramola said, as a government, we are poised to touch every nook and cranny of the State and we are resolute in our determination to extend development to inner parts of the metropolis.

Some of the Projects visited are Marina – Obafemi Awolowo Road – Epe LGA Junction (Ita Marun) [Marina – Awolowo Road with a Dual carriageway and the relocation of the Marine Police Post at Epe Marina Road and the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway Phase 2b amongst others.

He said the construction of this road would improve road connectivity in Epe.

According to him, Marina – Obafemi Awolowo Road is a major strategic infrastructure for this administration in that it actualizes our desire to harness the tourism potential of Epe and indeed to stimulate the growth of other satellite settlements within the division.

“On a visit to the part of the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway Phase 2b road project, the Special Adviser agreed that commuting to Epe from Victoria Island had taken a new shape as work on the project was steadily progressing.

” Also, residents along the Lekki – Epe corridor have started to heave sighs of relief as the reconstruction of the world class Expressway nears completion.

“What is more, there has been an astronomic increase in the volume of economic transactions within the axis and the resultant pressure on the road, especially with the introduction of the dedicated lane for articulated vehicles has reduced

“With the commitment to deliver this project by the end of this year, the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway will reduce traffic gridlock, ease the stress of movement by motorists and commuters, improve public health and enhance socio-economic activities in Epe Division,” he said.
