Mr Alex Martinez, Chairman of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Board, says the conference has generated over $1.6 billion in additional revenue for the economy of Houston since 2010.

He disclosed this during the closing session of OTC 2025, on Thursday in Houston, Texas, U.S.

Martinez said that such milestone highlights the city’s continued role as a key global hub for the energy industry.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this year’s event, with the theme, “Waves of Innovation Shape the Future of Offshore Energy”, drew participants from over 100 countries.

The event also had in attendance energy professionals, policymakers, and academics.

He noted that OTC reinforced Houston’s status as a center for energy innovation and dialogue while boosting local business, benefiting hotels, restaurants, and service providers.

“This year’s conference showcased groundbreaking technologies, a premier technical programme, and transformative discussions on the future of offshore energy.

“We kicked off the week with a high-profile opening ceremony and plenary session featuring leaders from top energy firms,” Martinez said.

According to him, the 2025 agenda included nine executive dialogues, 18 keynote addresses, 53 technical sessions, and over 360 technical presentations.

“More than 1,000 companies participated in the exhibition, showcasing cutting-edge solutions, from virtual reality innovations to interactive offshore energy installations.

“The “Around the World Series” spotlighted delegations from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay.

“Also, several African nations were available, offering global perspectives on regional strategies, policy developments, and international collaboration,” he added.

“OTC remains the cornerstone event for the offshore energy sector, uniting top-tier professionals from across the globe.

“There is no other event of this magnitude where the brightest minds and leading companies come together to share insights, form partnerships, and tackle the industry’s most critical challenges,” Martinez explained.

Looking ahead, he announced that OTC 2026 would take place from May 4 to May 7, 2026.
