The Independent National Electoral Commission has urged eligible voters to visit designated registration centres for corrections of personal details and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Bauchi State, Umar Ibrahim, made the call on Friday during a press briefing.

He explained that as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, the commission has resumed the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

According to him, the exercise will cover fresh registration for new voters, correction of personal details such as names, dates of birth, gender, or addresses, replacement of lost, defaced, or damaged PVCs, transfer of voter registration from one location to another within or across states, as well as the collection of uncollected PVCs from the 2022 CVR across all local government areas of the state.

Ibrahim disclosed that while the online pre-registration commenced on Monday, August 18, 2025, physical registration will officially begin on Monday, August 25, 2025, at designated centres across Bauchi State.

“Both the online and physical processes will run simultaneously until August 30, 2026. To be eligible, one must be a Nigerian citizen, at least 18 years old, not previously registered, and physically present for biometric capture”, he stated.

The REC noted that while the online registration portal is available 24 hours at cvr.inecnigeria.org, physical registration will take place at the INEC State Office in Bauchi and at the 20 INEC Local Government Offices across the state, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on weekdays, excluding public holidays.

He added that the Preliminary Register of Voters would be displayed quarterly for public scrutiny to allow claims, objections, and corrections to ensure that only eligible voters remain on the final register.

The commission, he warned, would not tolerate multiple or underage registration, registration or collection of PVCs by proxy, or obstruction of officials performing their duties, stressing that such offences attract stiff penalties under the Electoral Act 2022.

“I call on all eligible Nigerians in Bauchi State to take full advantage of this opportunity. Please register, update your records where necessary, and collect your PVCs.

“The Commission remains fully committed to ensuring a free, fair, transparent, and inclusive voter registration process,” Ibrahim said.
