100 days: LG chairman distributes N50m to residents
Mr Idris Balogun, Chairman, Egbe-Idimu, Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State on Tuesday empowered residents with N50 million to mark his 100 days in office.
About 500 residents received N100,000 each during the programme.
Speaking during the programme, Balogun said he was irrevocably committed to delivering service and ensuring genuine progress in the area.
The council chairman said his programmes and interventions align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the THEMES+ Agenda of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“Our mission has been very clear, to bring visible, people-centered development to every corner of Egbe-Idimu LCDA and to prove that governance can be both compassionate and effective.
“In these first 100 days, our administration has not only delivered the dividends of democracy to our party faithful, citizens and residents,but has also laid a solid foundation for the Egbe-Idimu of our collective dreams.
“Every project we embarked upon, every policy we implemented, and every action we took was tailored to reflect that Renewed Hope, rooted in inclusion, transparency and measurable progress” he said.
Balogun said that education remains the heartbeat of his transformation agenda “because the future of Egbe-Idimu lies in the minds of her children”.
He said his administration had supported education in the area through a number of interventions in the last 100 days.
“We distributed 10, 000 exercise books, 10, 000 quality school bags and 3,000 neatly sewn school uniforms to our young pupils, giving them not materials, but motivation to dream and learn.
“We also distributed 500 free GCE forms in two batches, accompanied by tutorial classes to prepare our students for success”,he said.
Balogun said no fewer than 400 residents had been empowered through skills acquisition and other empowerment programmes .
The council chairman said his administration had also procured ambulances , caterpillar grader, caterpillar rollers for the use of the council and a bus for use of the legislative arm.
He further said his administration had rehabilitated eight roads to ease human and vehicular movements in the area.
