United Nigeria Airlines has alerted passengers and the public to flight disruptions following a bird strike on one of its Airbus A320 aircraft on Sunday.
This was disclosed in a Sunday statement issued by the airline, stating that the incident occurred on Flight UN0509 from Asaba International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, scheduled for 12:00 hours.
“Due to a bird strike on one of the engines of its operating Airbus A320 aircraft during Flight UN0509, some flights across our network will not operate as scheduled,” the airline said in a statement.

In line with safety protocols, the affected aircraft has been withdrawn for a full inspection before returning to service.
“In adherence to our strict and uncompromising safety standards, the affected aircraft has been withdrawn from service for comprehensive inspection before returning to operations,” the statement added.
The airline also apologised to passengers for the inconvenience, assuring them of support during the disruption.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this unforeseen development may cause to your travel plans and kindly appeal for the understanding and patience of our valued passengers and the general public,” it said.
PUNCH Online reported that United Nigeria Airlines aircraft has recorded the fourth in the past month, highlighting a growing challenge for operators in the country.
The most recent incident occurred at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport when an Airbus A320 on Flight UN0519 from Abuja to Lagos encountered birds during takeoff.
United Nigeria Airlines reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest safety standards and minimising disruptions to passengers.
“Our team is working diligently to minimise disruptions and provide support to all affected travellers,” the statement concluded.
