Police arrest man for defiling neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter in Bauchi metropolis.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, on Tuesday.

According to Habib, the victim’s 32-year-old mother alleged that the suspect, identified as Muhammad Makama, lured her daughter into his room and allegedly defiled her.

The statement read, “The incident was reported to ‘E’ Division Yelwa, Bauchi, on 5th July, 2026, at about 22:14 hrs by the 32-year-old mother of the victim, who resides at Dorawan Dillalai, Bauchi.

“The complainant alleged that on the same date at about 1211hrs, one Muhammad Makama ‘m’, 45 years old, of the same address, lured her 8-year-old daughter into his room and defiled her.

“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives immediately swung into action. The victim was taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment.”

It added that the suspect was also taken to the same facility for treatment after he was allegedly assaulted by angry members of the community before being discharged.

The command said the case had been transferred to the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The State Commissioner for Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged offence and assured the public that justice would be served.
